This week’s website is Google’s Arts & Culture. I am posting this about the Statue of the Madonna in the Mountains. To read more about it visit the Google site.
I love this picture, it was created using the brush and black ink and gray wash, with graphite, on cream wove paper. Caspar David Friedrich created it in 1804 and it resides at The Art Institute of Chicago.
The trees are what I like the most of this artwork. They are not all the same, and they have life in them. The second thing I really like is how the background looks and feels, it gives me a sense of peace.
